Auditor General Concludes Forensic Audit into ZAMMSA, Cites Operational Weaknesses

Posted on June 1, 2025June 1, 2025 By qtvqtvonline

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has concluded a comprehensive forensic audit into the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA).

Head of Public Relations, Ellen Chikale, stated that the audit revealed systemic operational weaknesses within ZAMMSA.

In a statement, Ms. Chikale disclosed that the audit report has been submitted to the relevant law enforcement agencies (LEAs) for further investigation and appropriate action.

She further noted that, to support institutional reform, the report has also been shared with the Ministry of Health to guide the implementation of corrective measures and strengthen internal controls.

Ms. Chikale clarified that forensic audit reports are not made public due to their sensitive nature. Instead, they are submitted to law enforcement agencies to aid in prosecution.

She emphasized that this approach is intended to safeguard the integrity of ongoing investigations and ensure that any subsequent legal proceedings are not compromised.
