Government has provided 4,820 school desks in Chilanga District in support of the Free Education Policy introduced by President Hakainde Hichilema, a policy that has seen the return of over two million children to school across the country.
This was revealed when Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata engaged the Chilanga Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) to assess the progress being made under the Constituency Development Fund.
Minister Mulyata emphasized that the CDF is a flagship development initiative under the New Dawn Government and called for the prudent utilization of the funds to benefit local communities.
She warned that selective use of the CDF will not be tolerated, urging for equitable distribution of resources so that all residents of Chilanga District can benefit.
The Minister further stressed the importance of timely completion and commissioning of all projects.
Meanwhile, Chilanga Town Council Chairperson Champion Tembo stated that the district is working diligently to avoid audit queries by ensuring value for money and full accountability of all allocated funds. He also confirmed that 90 percent of CDF contracts in Chilanga District are currently being awarded to local contractors.
