Vice President Mutale Nalumango has departed for Geneva, Switzerland, to attend the 2025 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction Summit.

The summit, scheduled for June 2–6, 2025, will take place at the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG) and the Varembé Conference Centre (VCC). It will bring together global leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to assess progress and challenges in implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The agenda will focus on key areas such as strengthening the implementation of the Sendai Framework, enhancing national and local disaster risk reduction strategies, and promoting comprehensive risk management approaches.

Vice President Nalumango’s participation underscores Zambia’s commitment to disaster risk reduction and management.

During the summit, she is expected to engage with international partners, share Zambia’s experiences, and advocate for stronger global cooperation on disaster risk reduction.

She will also contribute to global discussions by highlighting Zambia’s efforts to address the impacts of climate change, build resilience, and promote sustainable development.

The outcomes of the summit are expected to inform Zambia’s national strategies and policies, ultimately supporting the country’s broader development agenda. This is according to a statement issued by Njenje Chizu, Press Aide in the Office of the Vice President.
